OUR FOUNDER
Brian Carter is a CPA and a 1978 graduate of Texas Tech University. He worked in public accounting for two years, before moving to private industry for National Medical Care's Bio-Medical Applications division where he served in the Dallas Regional Office. Within two years he became its Regional Controller. In 1983, he moved on to the law firm of Johnson & Swanson (later known as Johnson & Gibbs and Johnson & Wortley). It was there that he sharpened his skills among the best and brightest in downtown Dallas - and became a CFO for the first time in 1986. That law firm grew to national status during his controllership. In 1995, he led the wind down of Johnson & Wortley and joined law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist as its Director of Finance, which had also set its sights on becoming a national power. During this period, Brian also became active in ministry serving with Promise Keepers and helping start the men's ministry at Crossroads Christian Church. He also helped his brother, Bruce, establish an international missions organization and continues to serve as her CFO. The two law firms provided exposure to complex partnership and corporate tax returns, dynamic budget and forecasting modeling, banking relationships, critical thinking and strategic planning. Missions and work in his local church provided insights into non-profit accounting and IRS reporting. In 2013, he launched Carter Tax & Financial Solutions, where he supports clients in health care, energy, legal, real estate and non-profit industries, as well as a wide variety individuals needing assistance with their personal income taxes.
